If you have a senior dog, a dog with arthritis, or a dog with other mobility issues, it may be time for a ramp. They make life easier, and your pooch shouldn’t have to struggle to get up into the car or on the couch.
When looking for a ramp:
- Make sure it reaches high enough for your dog to get onto furniture or into the car.
- Choose a lightweight ramp or one that folds up, if space is an issue. This makes storage easier.
- The ramp should have an anti-skid surface, so your dog can maneuver on it securely.
- You may have to teach your dog to use it. Use positive reinforcement and rewards – your goal is to help him feel confident, even when you’re not around.
